Today I am heading into Mexico. I’m full of energy and excitement to really get the Happy Nomad Tour started. But my experience in Houston was better than I could have possibly imagined. I can’t even begin to explain how much fun I had and how much I enjoyed my time.
The people I met here have been so nice, generous, and wonderful. I kind of realized, in some way, that the ideals I am searching for can be found right here at home. There is still a lot about my own country I have yet to explore. There is still a lot about my own countrymen/women I have yet to explore as well.
I think sometimes it’s easy to appreciate what is different, which can make it harder to appreciate what’s similar. I can tell you without a doubt that this Ohio boy often felt like he was in another country down here in Texas. But I wasn’t and now that I’m leaving I feel a bit like I’ve struck gold and discovered a treasure of goodness right here at home.
Maybe that will be the focus of a future adventure. For now it’s time to explore the world and try to make it a bit better. I can say with certainty, though, that my experience in Houston made me a better person. For that I’ll always be grateful.
