Finding A Completely Unexpected Piece Of Home In Huaraz, Peru
Yesterday, my first day in Huaraz, I was walking down the street and noticed a vendor selling hats. I immediately recognized some college teams among the hats, which surprised me.
What surprised me the most was finding a hat with Brutus Buckeye, my alma mater Ohio State’s mascot! Having just lost a close Final Four game the night before, which I didn’t really care about to be honest, it was just a nice thing to find when it was the last thing I’d expect.
I felt a bit guilty for taking the pictures and going through the motions with the lady selling the hats since I knew I wouldn’t pay $10 for the Ohio State hat. So I looked at other things she had for sale and I bought a $3 winter hat with the Peru logo. I’ll gift it to someone when I get home. And I didn’t feel guilty anymore 🙂
The hat is really nice, actually. At first I thought it was for kids, but it stretches like crazy and is really comfortable.
Anyway, very cool start to my time in Huaraz! And Go Bucks!
did you see any hornets hats for sale there?
